I saw a post today from one of my contacts on Linked-In and couldn’t agree more. Liz said, “Never stop jobhunting. Always keep your eyes open & your network activated. Always keep meeting new people. Focus as much on your career as you do on your job.” This is a great reminder to evaluate your personal and career goals. Never stop learning. Never stop challenging yourself.
As an employer, this also means you need to make sure your team is happy. Most of the feedback I hear about people on the job hunt don’t feel respected or challenged and feel prohibited from doing their job for one reason or another. This article is a good one and focuses on respect. Susan Hatfield suggests individuals want ”their employer and coworkers to treat them as if they deserve to be treated with dignity and with respect.” It’s a great reminder for all of us, working or not working.
