Recruiting is not an easy thing. Headcounts double, candidate pools shrink, and everyone competes for the same talent. Job searching and interviewing is an emotional and time consuming process for the employer, candidate and recruiter. As a recruiting professional with more than 20 years of experience, the feedback remains the same – no one wants to experience silence. Not a candidate, not a client and not a recruiter. You hear stories about lack of communication, no feedback, no preparation, ghosting, avoiding and stalling. The best thing to do is over communicate. If there isn’t any feedback or you are waiting on information, communicate that. Any bit of communication is better than no communication. It goes back to the saying ” Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” If you stick to that communication mantra, you’ll have a better experience on all sides of the process. Always. Be.
